The Home Office support and modernisation fund has now gone live, details are available from the Home Office website and www.fundingcentral.org.uk.
The purpose of the fund is to provide practical support and advice to frontline voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations that support Home Office objectives in preparation for the arrival of Police and Crime Commissioners in May 2012. This is not a fund for the provision of general supprt to the VCSE sector.
The grant will fund an alliance of sector umbrella bodies to provide support to the sector to help it develop to take advantage of the changing local delivery and commissioning landscape, including the delivery of more open public services, as described in the recent government white paper Open Public Services. This will put organisations in a position to become more effective partners with the statutory sector and provide more cost effective services, including involvement in co-design and co-delivery of services that meet local needs.
Bids from alliances of voluntary sector umbrella organisations, capable of covering the breadth of Home Office community issues (crime, anti-social behaviour, re-offending, substance misuse, violence against women and girls, youth crime), will be welcomed.
The closing date for bids is Friday 23rd September at 17:00 hrs.
