On 20 November 2008 Social Firms UK commissioned the production of a three minute film to explain what Social Firms are, entitled "Social Firms: successful businesses, empowering employment".
About The Film
The film seeks to explain what a Social Firm is to anyone unfamiliar with the concept. Filmed by Joanna Haslam and Nick O'Meally of Calabash Creative, it was coordinated by Media Trust as part of the Volunteer Films scheme. The video is hosted by Mark Durden-Smith of ‘I’m a Celebrity’ fame and stars staff of Social Firms Aquamacs (www.aquamacs.co.uk) and Scotch Bonnet (www.scotchbonnet.co.uk). About Social Enterprise Day
Social Enterprise Day is a national day to celebrate and promote social enterprise. It provides an opportunity for individual social enterprises to engage with their local communities and a way for us all to raise awareness of social enterprise among teenagers. The aim of producing the film "Social Firms, successful businesses, empowering employment" for Social Enterprise Day was to increase awareness of Social Firms among 12-18 year olds. The promotion of the video has included:
- uploading it to networking sites, ammado (www.ammado.com/nonprofit/social-firms-uk) and Facebook (www.facebook.com);
- emailing flyers and links to the film to 5,000 schools;
- sending a copy of the dvd to 10 targeted contacts at school enterprise groups;
- arranging for the film to appear on The Community Channel.
