The Soap Co. is a manufacturing and retail venture, offering high quality hand-made soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lip balms, bath bombs, shower gels and creams. This developing market has been valued at £570m per year in the UK and is set to rise. As the Soap Co’s products are hand-made and unique, the retail outlets need to be concentrated in locations that attract a significant number of tourists and visitors.

The Soap Co offers retail and production employment opportunities for people severely disadvantaged in the labour market. The manufacturing unit will usually be separate from the retail outlet, and depending on location and size of premises it is envisaged that each Social Firm could employ between 5 and 8 people in total.
Each licensee is allocated a retail territory. A wholesale territory will also be allocated to licensees while the licensor will negotiate national contracts on behalf of the enterprises.
The licence opportunity has already attracted significant interest from across the UK. A retail and manufacturing outlet opened in Edinburgh in November 2004 and a further retail outlet opened in Keswick in August 2005.
