Pack-IT, a Social Firm business based in Cardiff, Wales, has won an Award for Best Large Social Firm of the Year 2009. The Award is operated by Social Firms Europe CEFEC and was presented to Pack-IT on 11th September in Prague, Czech Republic.
The European Social Firm of the Year Award is an annual competition held by Social Firms Europe CEFEC in order to demonstrate excellence amongst Social Firm businesses in Europe, inspire and motivate others. It is sponsored by one of the previous winners of the Award: Specialisterne Social Firm in Denmark. In the 2009 round, there was an overall ‘European Social Firm of the Year’ winner, a German Social Firm called Di-Hako; Best Large Social Firm (>11 employees) which went to Pack-IT in Wales, and Best Small Social Firm (<10 employees) which was awarded to a Social Firm in the telemarketing sector called Telehandelshus in Denmark.
Pack-IT had won the overall Award in 2005, so was delighted to be able to enter the competition for a second time and win one of the sub-categories this year. John Bennett, manager at Pack-IT, commented “this award means a lot to the 15 staff at Pack-IT and I’m proud to be able to bring it home to Wales. The calibre of Social Firm businesses entering the award seems to increase every year so it’s good to feel that we’re still able to demonstrate that excellence and prove our longevity in the business world; much of that is down to the staff so it’s good to be able to reward them in this way and inspire others to consider the Social Firm model at the same time.”
